Astoria & Howard & Sandy

by BDK

following a long and complicated commute from chinook to astoria i then had the great pleasure of driving UP 8th street. i thought i had gotten to san francisco way earlier. good grief!

spent a couple pleasant nights with howard and sandy. i knew i was in safe hands because my room had magical fairies floating above my bed.

sandy made her famous chocolate chip cookies. mmmmm. howard and i managed to spend the first evening in the basement getting his wireless functional. (like old times…)

the next day howard played tour guide and showed me the south side of the columbia river. we walked up the “column”. howard claims to have gotten to the tops of the 168 steps before i. while technical true its only because he performed an illegal pass on the 2nd landing.

great thanks to howard and sandy for the visit.

the "column".
a foggy view from the column looking at the south side of the mighty columbia river.
astoria sled dogs. (least that is what they sounded like from the safeway gas station...)
captain clark at fort clatsop.
a really cool canoe paddle. might not work so well on the rocky alaskan streams...
howard and sandy's place. great view of the river in the front of the house. however, please note that if you ask howard for the address of the place he will provide you with incomplete information, failing to mention if its a "street" or an "avenue". which will result in your driving UP 8th street, which you don't want to do.... 🙂
