got up early in cooperstown NY and headed down the road for O canada. the giant winter storm was a coming and due in the early afternoon, thus the early start. about 370 miles from cooperstown to peterborough. much of that was in light to moderate snow fall. roads were mostly wet, but not slippy.
i like peterborough. about the size, popwise of fairbanks. i suspect it would be a good place to live. had a couple locals toot their horn as they pulled up next to me when i arrived in town, and gave me a “thumbs up”, i guess they liked the AK license plates.
spent the night in a brandy new motel 6. then the day at the canadian canoe museum. a really really good museum if one is interested in canoes. i kept wanting to prop open the doors and stuff some of the birch bark and wood strip canoes outside to load on my truck.
and, like at the bbhof, i was the only one in the place. (well, i did see another visitor as i was going into the gift shop…)
