Spent a couple days on Auckland before grabbing the bicycle and heading north. Auckland is a city that is built not near a volcano but rather built on a volcano, not on the side of one, but on the top of one. As a result Auckland is similar much of new zealand, not much flat ground around here. New Zealand has a population about 4.3 million and Auckland is home to 1.4 of those millions. It’s a very cosmo kind town. The streets are filled with languages and races galore. So much so that at times it’s rare to hear English. The other thing that is rare are free wifi spots. The main library works and there is trendy mall with free wifi but little else, at least that I was able to find. Lots of spots you can pay for, but there is just something wrong about having to pay for wifi. However, there’s a pub near the hotel I stayed at that has a locked wifi signal named “king Lear”. So I figured what are the odds….”shakespeare” would be the password? Turns out the odds are pretty good that that is the case. Not in the country 48 hours and already a law breaker….
