after spending NYE in sydney i flew to tasmania. and after spending the past several weeks in the hot states of south australia, the northern territory, and, western australia, it was nice to head south to a cooler clime.
unfortunately, it was the height of the AU holiday season, so tasmania was crowded, at least as compared to the rest of the country.
not sure why but the roads in tasmania were far worse than the roads elsewhere in the country. they were still better than most north american highways, but no where near as good as the super smooth thoroughfares of mainland AU.
first stop was Mt. Field national park. did day and night walking. didn’t see much at nght, a few walabies and had a couple bats fly by my headlamp
