Flew from Nairobi to Dubai. Spent a couple nights there relaxing. Then had a non relaxing 2am flight from Dubai to Kolkata. The emirates pilots did a good job landing in the early morning fog–visibility was about 2,000 feet. Passed through immigration and customs, met the driver the hotel sent, and a noisy 45 minute ride from the airport to downtown kolkata. I’m hoping that it’s just a Kolkata thing, but Indians LOVE to blow their horns. It’s nonstop. There are no agreed upon traffic lanes–as many that can fit is the number of lanes. At least, however, they do stop for red lights. But, the second the light turns green they all start blowing their horns.
Only two and half nights here. Then hop a train north. I’m hoping things will calm down somewhat in the smaller towns. (I hope…)
