The oldest thing in Delhi. Fourth or Fifth Century. The local myth is that it’s made of steel and there is no explanation as to why it hasn’t rusted away in 1,500 years. The answer, of course, is that it’s not made of steel. That it’s made of wrought iron. And as any employee of BDK Iron Products can tell you, wrought iron doesn’t rust. (Well, it does, but only very very very very slowly.) Nonetheless it’s an impressive chunk of iron for such a long time ago.
