Like most DOTs in the States the road folks in AU are pretty lenient when it comes to roadside memorials to someone killed in an auto accident. But, this was way more than just tolerant. This is in the middle of a several kilometer long road widening and cut-and-fill project. They really went out of their way to preserve the little memorial.
