The Philippines is a popular place to find a second wife. Combine Asian culture, great poverty with little class movement and May/December romances abound.
Some of the girls have a saying:
“tambok tigulang nga tawo, daghang mga salapi, nga mga patay sa dili madugay”
Which means:
“Fat old man, lots of money, be dead soon”
(To be fair, it’s often more complicated than that and there are many many examples of these unions that are for real. But, the cynical view is valid for some too.)
