I’ve been to Paris four times now. Twice I’ve stayed in hotels and twice I’ve rented apartments from locals. This time it’s an apartment. Both apartment stays have featured a nice place with a kitchen and laundry facilities. And, in both cases the stairway looked like something out of Irma la Douce.

Starting with the deadbolt on your door, that apartment stairwell made me think of The Man in the Iron Mask. Where are the Musketeers?
