Flew to/from Easter Island on the 787 Dreamliner. Very nice aircraft.
EI’s airport was interesting. There are no taxi ways. So, after landing the pilot needs to turn the plane around and back taxi down the runway to the apron. Something that I’ve experienced before but many folks in the cabin were looking about wondering what was going on.
Then there is the fact there is no jetway, one gets on and off using the shaking portable stairs. Advantage of this is that you get a good look at one of the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines that power this machine. They are only $41 million each and push out 60,000 pounds of thrust and have a nearly 10′ diameter.
Finally, lots of legroom in Business Class. Tough duty, but I’m up for it.
