The Atacama

by BDK

The Atacama Deserts is often called the driest place on earth. There are parts of it that there has never been any recorded rainfall. Ever.

I only visited a tiny portion of it. We got up to 14,000’ on one of the trips.

Deserts are interesting visually. But, I find their biology of greater interest. The ability of critters and plants to make living in those location is amazing.

Some pics from some of the tours:

Part, I’m told, of the Inka Trail. The Inka built over 18,000 miles of roads.

Rainbow Valley. The green on the valley floor is the color of the rocks there, not vegetation.
