Interesting flight path from Santiago to buenos Aries. Left Santiago and proceeded due south for 20+ minutes. We didn’t begin our turn east until we hit 21,000’.
As we started across the Andes the flight attendants announced that everyone should keep their seat belts on until we had passed over the mountains. Even the FAs remained seated.
Twenty or so minutes later we were passed the hills. No turbulence to speak of. A few little bumps.
I’m guessing that’s SOP for Andes crossings. Just in case.
