Cambodia!

My 4th trip here. Met old students.

The great Cambodian TukTuk:

Which appear to be being replaced by these 3 wheeled things from India:

The TukTuk is far superior. In the TukTuk you sit high and can enjoy the view. The only thing you see in the 3 Wheelers is the back of the driver’s head. In a TukTuk you have a great breeze as you drive along. It’s just stuffy in the other contraption. I would also think the 3 Wheelers might be problematic during the rainy season — Phnom Penh doesn’t have the greatest storm drainage.

Given the enormous number of the 3 Wheelers as compared to a couple years ago, I fear the TukTuk days are numbered. It’s definitely a step backwards.

I read up on Tuk Tuks. They still SEEM popular, but the travel advisories also warned of price gouging, bad fumes, and the way thieves on foot or passing vehicles, headed the opposite direction, reach in and swipe your stuff. Still, I like the looks of the Tuk Tuk.
