Nearly all my clothing is polyester type stuff. It’s lightweight. It dries quickly quickly. It can be laundered well in a sink with shampoo. (Shampoo is the universal detergent.)
Two exceptions. Fleece jumper and cotton socks. Both require a real laundry to get them 100%. (The exception to that is if you have a Filipina gf type — they can wash anything by hand.)
Sometimes there is a neighborhood laundromat where one can suds things up. That was the case in Budapest. Sometimes the exchange rate is favorable enough that having the hotel do the laundry is easily in budget. That was the case in Gelibolu, Turkey. Otherwise, it’s the sink (or shower, ala Cary Grant in Charade) and shampoo.
Socks though never really get totally clean in the sink. So, I’ve learned not to fight that. After a couple three sink gorounds I declare the socks personanongrata and toss them. For $5 – $10 a month I buy new socks.
Got these three for $4.51 in Istanbul.

(“Eco design” — whatever that is…)
