Kangaroo Island Deux

ki continued.

not sure why but whenever there is a chance to enter a cavern i go. the ranger rick who did the tour was quite good, had all his jokes down pat.
the rash of bacon stalactite.
ballet slipper stalactite.
parrots everywhere it seemed.
got back to remarkable rocks one morning shortly after sunrise.
notice the gal standing to the left, for a scale.
went down to the shore to watch the sunset. saw my first "green flash"! watched sunsets for years on the tundra and never saw one. finally had to go to southern australia. (what's a "green flash"? — do a google.)
two of the reasons to never drive at night in AU. twice on ki i came to within a couple inches of hitting roos. these little guys are wallabies,
cape barren goose. green bill and all.
a mom koala and her babe, fast asleep.
peek-a-boo!
close-up of the sleeping joey.
this shot is for jon k. — imagine, trash p/u way out in the middle of nowhere rural AU!
a common site.
followed a river to the sea. first time i've ever done that.
an echidna. resembles ant eaters and porcupines, but isn't either. together with the platypus they are the only monotremes on earth — egg-laying mammals.
nice face, eh?
as we bid a found farewell to kangaroo island....
