Left on chrissymust day for New Zealand. My first flight on an A380—largest passenger plane. It’s a big damn plane. I was scheduled in coach, lower deck, but was able to upgrade to business class for just a few bucks more. So, I was on the upper deck. Some pics below. Notice the three jetways? Two lowers and an upper. I was scheduled to fly in an A380 several years ago on my first trip to AU and NZ, but they grounded them when an engine blew up. The next thing was they found cracks in the wings a couple years ago. The wings are mostly composite rather than aluminum. If you look closely at my wing pic you’ll notice a patch of the wing that looks different then the rest. I suspect this is where the cracks appeared and it’s the patch job.
A couple pics of the decadence of business class. Own little minibar, own iPad, own large TV, lay flat bed if needed.
Upon entry to NZ you’re greeted by this Hobbit advert for Air NZ. Big on Hobbits hereabouts…
