Florida and Bikes

by BDK

been biking around 10 – 20 miles a day while here. florida is the 2nd most dangerous place in states. this is due to two factors, one, the drivers in south florida are nuts, and, two, the average bicyclist in south florida is derived from the same gene pool as the drivers. so, between these two populations of geniuses, florida is a tough place to ride.

as a result, i’ve not biked on the roads and have had to find alternatives.

the morning ride, before 8am, is along the boardwalk. which works out well as at that time there are relatively few tourists to dodge. and, at that time in the morning there are no kids, which are the most unpredictable of pedestrians.

the afternoon ride is along a canal and into one of the local parks. another 10 mile run. this doesn’t involve any dodging, other than, when its cold, the iguanas that like to sun themselves along the bike path along the canal. there are no hills in south florida, unless one counts the several “trash mountains” located here and there. but, there are couple bumps in the park that require a gear change.

i bungeed the cam to the rear rack and shot the videos, then reversed them.

at one of the parks after a ride. notice the shiny legs.
trying to not fall over until the cam takes the shot.
