ohio’s byways brought me to the outskirts of cleveland. i spent a few nights with ken, leslie and their daughter carrie. i growed up in this neck of the woods, in fact, just a street over. and, as always, it was GREAT to see ken. the only downside was that i was a few months too early, so we didn’t get a chance to go see a baseball game.

alma mayfield high school. (we got picked up by the cops 40+ years ago when we wandered into this building as it was being built.)

alma local library.

alma junior high.

an old bridge over the chagrin river. used to bike here to fish. no fish...

alma weir. caught lots of crayfish here.

alma elementary school. (got kicked out of here in the 6th grade....)

cleveland's terminal tower. the observation deck awaits us once the indians win the world series.

a REAL library, downtown main — my favorite library, ever.

more REAL library.

more REAL.

the soldier's and sailors monument. it was always closed when i was a kid. they finally cleaned it up and opened it. cleveland's civil war memorial.

the tt in a mirror.

my buddy abe and some of his generals — see grant?

abe and chain removal.

carrie is a HUGE hp fan. so much so she takes an hp tin lunch box (with a lunch...) to school each day. a really amazing kid. (special thanks to carrie for her letting me import her hp books on cd. i now have some great entertainment to see me down the road.)

carrie, leslie, ken and ken's mom. ken's mom is now 88 and is fantastic. she is exactly as she was 40 years ago, allbeit a bit older, when i was growing up. we went to her place for dinner. and the dinner was mmmmmmmmmmmmmm-------good. it was topped with a desert of "hello dollys". there is nothing more gooder than hello dollys. i have a bunch of them sitting in cooler in my truck. i figure that if i only eat one a day i might make them stretch all the way back to alaska.
