Success at last. The thing about wombats is they are nocturnal. The thing about car rentals in Australia is the insurance doesn’t cover you if you hit an animal between sunset and sunrise. Most wombats are spotted at night along the roadsides. So, unless you are driving at night it’s tough going finding wombats, save the puffed up ones laying on the shoulders with their feet in the air. (Wombats are somewhat slow moving and dodging vehicles isn’t one of their specialties.)
