Created by the French during colonial days. A nasty place at best. The Vietnamese communists took the prison over in 1954. There are a bunch of exhibits on how poorly the French treated the prisoners. But, here’s the odd thing, with the possible exception of the large room, below, where prisoners were kept shackled together, everything else looks original — not reconstructed. So, one is left wondering what function they served while the commies ruled the roost? —The King is Dead…Long Live the King!—
The vast majority of the place was torn down for construction of condos!
