All three of the Baltic States have museums of occupation. Alas, the museums of the first states I visited were closed. But, Lithuania’s was open.
Occupation was varied. Could be the Poles doing it, could be the NAZIs, could be the Soviets. The latter two being the worst.


Deportations were big! And, like the Nazis and today’s North Korea and Israel, the Soviets were fans of collective guilt. Send the whole family!

One interesting thing about the Occupation Museum in Vilnius is that it occupies the former KGB offices—cells in the basement.
