Trevelin

I got a rental car at the Bariloche airport. A Toyota Something-IOS. Not a bad little set of wheels. Amazingly it’s getting ~42mpg.

Once wheel-born I pointed south to the small town of Trevelin. About 200 miles distant. Very scenic drive for the most part. Started with the first third being very Alaskany, then the next third more like eastern Washington/Oregon, then the last third — back to Alaska.

Driving in Argentina is interesting. Outside of the urban areas there is seemingly no speed limit. They like to tailgate and pass as close to your vehicle as possible when overtaking. Then cut immediately in front of you with no turn signs. Evidently this called “normal” and not considered rude, let alone dangerous.

In towns, the vast majority of intersections are uncontrolled. Essentially, whomever gets there first has the right of way. Although I think in theory the person to the right has the right of way and/or the first person to blow their horn has the right of way. I just drive slow and yield to everyone.

A rare cloudy day. Mostly it’s been sunshine and temps from the 40s to 70s.
