It’s the same in stores. Here’s a video of my credit card use at the local grocery store—just a small two register place. Believe it or not, this transaction seemed a bit slower than normal, maybe a quarter of a second slower. It’s that fast—where a quarter of a second is noticeable. And, this isn’t even the fastest I’ve seen. At some places the time between your card insertion, approval and notice to remove the card is about a second.
